There’s no artist who had a bigger influence on my life than Michael Jackson http://bit.ly/lxGhWb

For a couple of days now I’ve got this persistent, annoying cough that keeps me (and as it appears, my neighbors) awake at night. I’m really trying to stay positive here, but I’m quite sleep-deprived, so that’s not working so well either. On the upside, I’ve got killer abs from this involuntary workout, I did get a lot of reading done, and, wait for it… I discovered my redundant superhero power (see video)…
Well, like I said, I’m sleep-deprived, alright …don’t judge me!
“Life will hit you hard in the face, wait for you to get back up just so it can kick you in the stomach. But getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air.” (Sarah Kay)
Known for her Spoken Word Poetry, Sarah Kay is the founder of Project V.O.I.C.E. (Vocal Outreach Into Creative Expression), encouraging kids to engage with the world around them and use Spoken Word Poetry as an instrument through which they can explore and better understand their culture, their society, and ultimately themselves.
“The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth, but you got to be willing to take the hits and not pointing fingers saying ‘you ain’t where you wanna be because of him or her, or anybody.’ Cowards do that, and that ain’t you. You’re better than that… But until you start believing in yourself, you ain’t gonna have a life.” (Rocky Balboa, 2006)
You were given a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say “thank you?”
This great short film (directed by actor Milo Ventimiglia, starring the outstanding Masi Oka and a very lovely Olivia Munn) tells the story of Dave Knoll whose random acts of kindness go unrewarded - until the end.
Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again. (Og Mandino)
We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives, not looking for flaws, but for potential. (Ellen Goodman)
WISHING YOU & YOURS A HEALTHY & HAPPY 2012!
Let this coming year be better than all the others. Vow to do some of the things you’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t find the time. Call up a forgotten friend. Drop an old grudge, and replace it with some pleasant memories. Vow not to make a promise you don’t think you can keep. Walk tall, and smile more. You’ll look ten years younger. Don’t be afraid to say, ‘I love you’. Say it again. They are the sweetest words in the world. (Ann Landers)
FYI While sitting in bed (in the dark) creating this post a big spider dropped from the ceiling right onto my laptop, almost giving me a heart attack… That’s a first. Way to start out the new year! ;)

A friend from Brazil shared this expressive image of an old couple (originally by Atelier Estorani). The caption below reads: “‘No one (male or female) is physically beautiful, slim, good in bed, and young for life … old age comes to everyone and loneliness to those who think otherwise! Those who love do not see the defects that appear with time… but learn to turn them into even more reasons to love!’ Think about it! #WhatReallyMattersIsToBeHappy”
